Honest answers
Things you'd want to ask before you book.
Why are the individual sessions same-gender?
Because people speak more freely when they're not being watched by their partner, and often more freely again with a practitioner of the same gender. The man works with Stephen. The woman works with Kelly. By the time we come together in the joint sessions, both of you have already done real work on your own story, so the joint sessions can actually go somewhere.
What if we don't have children?
This programme is designed with parents in mind because family wellbeing is our focus, and because the "atmosphere at home" angle matters most when kids are absorbing it. But the six-session structure and the individual-then-joint model work for couples without children too. The best way to know if it's right for you is a free chat with either of us.
Do we do the individual sessions at the same time?
In parallel, usually. You and your partner each book your own individual sessions in the diary with your practitioner, on your own schedules. The joint sessions come after the four individual sessions are done, so all four of us are in the room together with the foundations already laid.
Is this the same as marriage counselling?
Same intent, delivered differently. Traditional marriage counselling puts both of you in the room together from session one, which often means one person talks and the other defends. Our model gives each of you space to be honest with yourself first, with a practitioner who understands your side of the room, before we bring the four of us together.
Is this in person or online?
Both. Individual sessions can run online, so you can fit them into work and school-run life. Joint sessions can be either, but many couples choose in person for the joint work because being physically in the room together deepens what's possible.
What if one of us is more into this than the other?
Common. Really common. If one of you wants to start and the other is hesitant, book a free chat and we'll talk to the more hesitant partner ourselves. No pressure, no sales pitch. If it's not the right time, we'll say so.
How do we start?
Book a free chat with either of us. We'll ask a few questions about where the two of you are, tell you honestly whether the programme is the right fit right now, and if it is, we'll get you both booked in.
