Teens 1:1 Coaching · With Kelly Elliott

You want the best for them. Sometimes that means somewhere they can be heard, that isn't you.

The space your teen has been quietly needing.

1:1 coaching with Kelly for teenagers carrying anxiety, overwhelm, or big feelings they can't quite name. Trauma-informed, body-based, and a room that belongs to them.

What this actually is

Not therapy. Not tutoring. Not another adult telling them what to do.

Teens 1:1 Coaching with Kelly is a private, judgement-free room where your teenager doesn't have to perform, explain themselves to yet another grown-up, or worry that what they say is going to be reported back home. It's just space. And in that space, real work quietly gets done.

The point isn't to fix them. Nothing needs fixing. The point is to give them somewhere they can put down what they're carrying, understand what's actually happening in their own head and body, and pick up some tools that help when the next hard day arrives.

What sessions actually look like

Some talking. Some breathing. Some real tools they can take with them.

Sessions aren't sit-and-talk therapy. They're mixed. Depending on what your teen brings that day, Kelly might guide them through some gentle breathwork, work with what they're feeling in their body, talk through what's on their mind, or teach them a specific tool for the next time overwhelm hits. Nothing forced. Nothing weird.

Over a handful of sessions, most young people leave with:

  • A clearer sense of what they're actually feeling, and why
  • Simple, practical tools to calm a racing brain or a tight chest in the moment
  • Somewhere they can be honest without being watched or judged
  • A steadier relationship with themselves, and the confidence that comes with it
  • Language for what they're going through, so it feels less scary and less alone
Who this is for

You'll recognise at least one of these.

Kelly works with teens whose feelings have got bigger than the tools they have to handle them. Not because anything is wrong with them, but because being a young person right now is genuinely a lot.

  • They're anxious in ways they can't quite explain, and it's showing up in sleep, appetite, or school
  • They've gone quiet, and you can tell there's something underneath but they won't (or can't) say what
  • They're overwhelmed by pressure at school, comparison online, or friendships that aren't working
  • Their moods swing hard, and the smallest thing sets off a much bigger reaction than the moment deserves
  • They're carrying something you know is heavier than a teenager should have to carry alone
  • You've suggested therapy and they've refused, and you're looking for something that feels a little less clinical
Who they'll be working with

Sixteen years in classrooms with young people. This isn't Kelly's first rodeo.

Kelly spent sixteen years as an additional support needs teacher, sitting alongside young people whose feelings were far too big for them to hold on their own. Teenagers who couldn't cope in mainstream school. Teenagers who didn't want to talk. Teenagers everyone else had run out of ideas for. That's who Kelly learned this work with, before she formalised it as coaching.

Alongside teaching she trained as a life coach, a yoga teacher and a yoga therapist, which is where the body-based side comes from. And she's a mum of four, so she isn't guessing at what teenagers are going through. She's living with it, and coming home to more of it.

Trauma-informed. Warm. Direct when direct is needed. Quiet when quiet is what the room needs. This is the practitioner your teenager gets.

Book a single session, or a block of three.

Some parents book a single session to see how it lands with their teen. Others go straight to a block of three, which gives the work real room to build. Either way, it's the same warm, trauma-informed 1:1 with Kelly.

Honest answers

Things parents ask before they book.

How old do they have to be?

Kelly typically works with young people aged 11 to 18. If your child is a bit younger and you think this would help, book a free chat and we'll talk it through.

Do I need to be in the room with them?

No. The sessions are private between Kelly and your teen, which is exactly what makes them work. Young people speak differently when a parent isn't in the room, and that's the whole point.

Will you tell me what they say?

In broad strokes, yes. In specific detail, no. Kelly will share themes, direction and any safeguarding concerns, but the trust of the room is protected. That's what makes teens actually show up honestly. If you want more detail on how this works, ask about it on the free chat.

My teen doesn't want to talk to anyone. Is this a waste of money?

Kelly has spent sixteen years working with young people who didn't want to talk. Sessions aren't structured around forced conversation. They can involve breathwork, movement, drawing, or just sitting with the quiet. The talking follows when it's ready, or sometimes it doesn't need to at all.

How do I bring this up with my teen without them refusing?

Honestly and lightly. "I've found someone I think you might like talking to. She's not a therapist. She's a coach who works with young people. You can try one session and if you hate it, we never go back." Book a free chat and Kelly can give you the specific words to use if you're stuck.

Is this therapy?

No. Kelly is a trauma-informed coach, teacher and yoga therapist, not a psychotherapist or a counsellor. If a young person needs clinical mental health support, Kelly will say so and help you find the right route. Coaching sits alongside that world, not inside it.

Is it in person or online?

Both. In person in Motherwell, Lanarkshire, or online across the UK. Many teens actually prefer online because they can be in their own bedroom where they feel safest.

How many sessions will they need?

Most teens do a block of three to see if it's landing, then decide. Some do a single session for something specific. Others come back regularly over months. Kelly won't push more than the young person actually needs.
